The beauty of SainSmart InstaBots Upright Rover Kit is that it is totally customizable; it starts from our design but can become something totally your own. Add sensors, cameras or any other parts and pieces you can think of. With the LCD on the controller, now you can see the gesture and the PID values of the robot without the USB cable by pressing the button on the joystick_1 to change what values you want to see. What’s more, the transmitter has 8 channels so you can edit the code yourself to transmit everything you want.
New codes for the robot make it more safety and stable. If it falls down when adjusting the PID values, you don’t need to press reset button but just put it back to the right position and it will restart itself.

Just built the Upright Rover Pro
I just spent a couple hours to build the Upright Rover kit Pro. I used the video that has now been updated for the pro kit to build the rover, it was quite easy. I got stuck the LCD problem with the controller but after I identified it, it was easy to fix. At first, the LCD did not display anything on the controller. I found out that the I2C address was wrong, I had to change the address 0x27 to 0x3F in the line "LiquidCrystal_I2C lcd(0x27, 16, 2)" of the Remote controller code. another thing, the hole in the top plate is not well aligned with the right joystick, it makes the right joystick rub against the border of the hole. I had the same problem as the other reviewer with the Remote controller 9V power jack and the I2C board under the LCD, I suggest to use a right angle power jack to fix the problem. Other than that, I followed the tuning instructions from the video. I was able to tune it almost perfectly in a few minutes. However, I was not able to get the robot to stand still, I think the little slack in the gearbox makes it difficult for the robot to make small corrections. Like the other reviewer, my problem right now is that the controlled movement is intermittent, I will try to figure this out with Sainsmart support. Otherwise, I think that it is a great kit for the price.
