Okay product but could be so much more...

I had one of these boards sold to me by an acquaintance that played with it for awhile and decided it wouldn't meet his needs. Unfortunately, I'm in the same boat with the same missing oar. The controller works well as described and intended. Connect it up and send commands by smartphone or your own software and it does what it's told. We both wanted the ability to turn devices on/off, read back the current state of the relays AND check the state of a portion of the 16 channels connected to switches and other sensors. In order to do that properly, the firmware needs to include a masking command to declare channels as outputs or inputs. One doesn't want errant code activating a channel output into a closed switch. The masking command provides the necessary safety margin. This should be a relatively simple addition to the firmware but the only available source code for this "open source" device seems to be the Android and IOS apps. I’ve been trying to work with customer service to get the source code but keep getting sent links for the app sources and documents that have no bearing on the firmware. If Sainsmart doesn’t want to distribute the firmware source code, it should add a masking command to the code themselves. Then this device would be far more useful to many users like me.
