Quality filament at an affordable price
I have now used Sainsmart's white and black ABS filament and the quality has been excellent. Black is usually the litmus test of the quality of a filament as it usually gets filled with all sorts of impurities. I'm pleased to say I have not had any issues with the Sainsmart filament and will keep using them as my preferred filament supplier. I have just ordered the wood ABS and will post a review once I get to test it.
Great filament
Great filament and great price. Comes in a sealed package with desiccant.
Good quality
I like the vivid color very much, so I bought 4 colors of them. The shipping is a little delay, but it is completely understandable.
Good
I bought the green one, it looks nice. It plays an important part in my project. It’s really a bargain.
Cool
Cool, it looks nice. I can’t wait to use it, hope it works well.
Highly recommend!
The price is very good but the quality of this is not poor. Highly recommend!
Most Value
The filament is top quality. I print about a spool a week of ABS and I'm on my 5th Sainsmart spool with blue, white and black. Just thread it into the extruder and click "print" - never a problem so far. The spool is a throwaway cardboard thingy with a plastic center. And it does NOT fit on any filament holder design I've found. So I printed a fix for it. Two inserts that snugly fit into each side of the spool hole with a ****** to keep them from going in too far. The center hole is 22mm and I have a 3/4 wooden dowel through it for an axis. No bearings, the spool slides on the wood. The friction between the wood and my plastic insert is minimal because each insert is only 8mm depth. Here's the goody - the slight drag keeps the Sainsmart spool from freewheeling - eliminating the problem others have with the spool unwinding over the low sides. I've never had that happen with this setup. Frankly I went to the wooden dowel and discarded a bearing spool holder with Octave which had the same freewheeling unraveling mess problem. I use a QU-BD extruder with an MK7 drive gear and a quick release springed arm idler and it has plenty of grip and power to pull the filament off the spool. Your milage may vary depending on your extruder driver. Photos of filaments do not really give you a good idea what printed parts are going to look like colorwise. And it's useless to tell someone, "Well it looks like a gadget, if you have one." But the blue Sainsmart is easy. Blue parts are very close to the 3M Blue Painter's Tape color. In fact, it's so close to the same color that I suspect Sainsmart matched the color on purpose given that most printing is done on that tape.
Great filament, great price
Right at 1.75-1.8mm, seems to work great. I did have one roll that the filament had a kink in it a ways back from the end of the filament. Enough to cause the filament to turn white, and I believe this caused problems with feeding on a print. The filament got messed up and all tangled around my filament holder and caused issues with the print because it wasn't getting any filament. I have since removed all the tangled filament and haven't had a problem since.
Consistently excellent filament
this ABS filament works very well. I have already used a full spool of the pink with zero feed issues.
Impressive with the quality
I am impressed with the PLA filament. The print quality is great and I have not had any issues with it jamming.
