Genmistu CNC Blue-Violet Light Fixed focus laser module kit, for 3018-PROVer, 3018-MX3
Application: The laser module is ideal for engraving, cutting, scribing, and drilling. Desired patterns can be made easily on the wood or plastic by this unit. This module is only compatible with 3018-MX3/3018-PROVer, but not compatible with 1810-PRO/3018/3018-PRO.
Fixed Focus: The fixed focus distance is 20mm. Compared with the adjustable focus laser module, the light spot of the fixed focus laser module is smaller. At the same power, the fixed focus laser module can cut 3mm linden wood in one pass, not possible with current adjustable laser modules.
Longer Service Life: The fixed focus laser module can work at full power for 8 hours without any light decay. The service life can be up to 10,000 hours.
Excellent Heat Dissipation: Equipped with a large aluminum heatsink and cooling fan, this can help the heat dissipate fast and ensure the laser module works continuously.
Industrial Grade Design: It is designed for industrial laser engraving machine, it adopts an intelligent feedback control circuit, external ACC constant current driving Mode. Featuring reliability, high stability, high efficiency, low noise, and excellent laser beam quality.

Very easy to install. The laser makes very detailed engravings, if set up correctly
Fitted onto my PROVer with no problem. Fixed focus is much easier to use than the older variable focus ones.
Fitting was easy and only a couple of simple connections and away we go
I have so far found this laser to be excellent. I was really keen to use it for cutting veneers which I am pleased to say it does brilliantly. I thoroughly recommend this product. I would also encourage people to use Lightburn software. It is very easy to use but also very powerfull. Works well with Gemnitus ProVer and does not need any export/import to a LaserGRBL package. Much less hassle than say Vcarve laser module which although has Vtransfer does not give you much control over GBRL settings.
Fulfillment of my order was very quick. The instructions were specific to software I don't use, but installation was pretty straightforward. This laser IS hot, so use the included glasses and appropriate caution. I would buy this again.
Best value in a low power laser that I've found. I mounted it to an aftermarket CNC machine and it works flawlessly. Fast and easy hookup and operation.
I mounted this laser on my X-Carve CNC machine using a homemade bracket. It works flawlessly and I am extremely please with it. It functions as good as units costing 4-5 times as much and was simple to connect and start using. Thanks for making laser engraving quick and affordable.
5.5 watts is a lot of power if you are attempting to engrave wood. Even at PWM of 45% and well focused it does a lot of burning (e.g. you get a fairly large spot). If you plan on doing some fine work on wood you might be happier with one of the 2.5w lasers. The PWM percentage versus the power output is NOT linear. So what we end up with doesn't come close to the resolution in wood one can get from the 2.5w. All considered though, the price performance of this laser is excellent. I recommend you consider purchasing both a 2.5 and this 5.5. Use the 5.5 when you don't need the resolution but want the feed rate that the higher power affords you. Use the 2.5 when you need very small print.
I've been working with the laser now for 2 days and finally am making progress - but if it were not for the Sainsmart users on Facebook I would have given up by now. https://docs.sainsmart.com/article/9t96srkawt-introduction-to-cnc-for-a-total-novice-setting-up-a-laser was not too hard to find but the 'missing manual' that a Facebook user had to point me at should have been included with the purchase: https://s3.amazonaws.com/s3.image.smart/download/101-60-385/Laser_Module_Kit_For_CNC_3018PROVer%26MX3_User_Manual_V1.2%20202007.pdf So 5 stars for the hardware and 1 star for the documentation averages out to 3. It's worth persevering (especially now I've pointed you at the documentation :-) )
I havent got this far as yet
