I have had some time to mess with this printer after owning some entry level lcd uv resin printers like the elegoo mars. The Sainsmart printer is a work of art. The machining is amazing and it comes well packaged. The manual is very easy to follow and theres a bunch useful tools included in the box. The build plate is incredibly sturdy and the build volume is plenty big. The biggest factor for getting this printer was the build volume because on my other resin printers I could barely fit anything on the bed or I had to orient the part on the bed in a bad way to get it to fit. The KL9 solves that issue and the prints come out perfect. I have had zero issues so far with this printer and highly recommend it. I have attached a few pictures of prints from the KL9 and they are second to none!!
I needed a larger printer and after comparing features and build quality I decided to give the KL9 a try. It has turned out to be a good decision. This printer is built solid and has a great Z guide system. I have over 200 parts off this printer without a single failure. From my initial impressions if they ever release a larger printer I will not hesitate to purchase it as well. The printer gets impressive print quality. My other resin printers claim a higher print resolution but I cannot see a difference by eye between this printer and the others.I will follow up in the future on the long term reliability but at this point I believe this printer is likely to be used heavily for years to come.
Printer was extremely well packed in a much larger box than I expected and was in perfect condition.Picture is a comparison of Roger the "Alien figurine" with an attitude from Thingiverse on my first resin printer and the SainSmart.....size matters.I've had a filament printer for several years but finally wore it out. I got a resin printer that I still have but with it I frequently run up against size limits. With the SainSmart Kumitsu KL9 I haven't run into any size limits.......yet.The print quality is really good.Having the Power switch and the USB port on the front is a big plus for me and they aren't so close to the screen to cause a problem.A big problem that I frequently ran into on my first resin printer was having to wait almost two hours into the print to see if the print had adhered to the build plate. SainSmart has TOTALLY SOLVED this problem and they don't even mention it in the user manual or any advertising that I've have seen. At the bottom of page 6 of the user manual there is a "Tips:" explaining how to add resin while printing which will happen with a printer that can print larger prints. What they don't say but should say in big bold red caps is to "PRESS PAUSE" (the equal sign) and then press the "ARROW" which will cause the build plate to rise about 4 inches which is exactly what is needed to see if the print has adhered to the build plate, then press the "ARROW" again to resume printing. THIS FEATURE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON ALL RESIN PRINTERS FROM DAY ONE.
