"I was teaching a free class on PCB Design and our project was decided to be a little macro keyboard which can be programmed to access hotkeys and such on a computer. We decided to use the Raspberry Pi Pico as our base so the students wouldn't have to do difficult soldering or critical design and because of the wealth of code examples available for that product for keyboards.

We all used a similar schematic but the layout was up to each student, a lot of cool designs came out of the contest. Mine was based on a logo from Warhammer. Besides using it as a keyboard I also soldered up and wrote code for one without keys that could just hang as decoration, such as on my bag when I go to gaming conventions.

The board was designed in KiCAD, the code was written in CircuitPython, and the eyeball knobs and back plate for light diffusion were designed in Fusion 360 and printed on an FDM printer.

The project really combines my love of electronics, lights, 3D printing, and tabletop gaming."
