Inspiring Stories by SainSmart Makers: Part 2

This year, we are celebrating SainSmart's 10th anniversary! Thanks to everyone who has gotten us here! Some weeks ago, we talked to some of our valued customers to learn about their stories as makers. They shared some great stories and experiences! Today, we're honored to introduce them and excited for you to learn more about them.

What led you to become a Maker?

High school shop class introduced me to woodworking and metal shops. Always liked it. That was 40 years ago. Most recently, I have been making stuff for my home and friends. On my path to discovery in creating I became intrigued with CNC. Just built my first machine thanks to Sainsmart. Now on to discovering how to use it. (:

Could you please tell us something about your creations, or share some suggestions for beginners who want to make things?

Take it slow, do your due diligence. Don't be afraid to fail, it's part of the learning process. Always measure twice before cutting.

What is a challenge or difficulty that you have overcome in the workplace?

Too many to list, but I didn't get this far by giving up.

August 18 is our 10-year anniversary! Anything you would like to say to SainSmart or our team?

Congrats, keep up the excellent work and customer service.

What led you to become a Maker?

I have always loved to create and make beautiful things , even when it was just starting to learn programming, but what really ignites the the whole Maker/DIY persona is that I want to simply learn how it works and how its made, If I can make it better or simply customize it to fit my needs better or even add a little improvement over it.

Could you please tell us something about your creations, or share some suggestions for beginners who want to make things?

My suggestion for beginners is for the love of God just read the manual for starters, it has a lot of information, never leave a rock unchecked, online search is your friend, and NEVER give up. Trust me, it's always hard in the beginning and once you know what you really want and how to do, it will just be a set of relevant steps one after the other and you will just love it .

What is a challenge or difficulty that you have overcome in the workplace?

HppMy main challenge was that knowing the problem and finding a suitable solution was always relying on its availability online or locally, but now prototyping is my main go to approach .

Curiosity. I've been ordering from SainSmart for about 8 years and learned early that they have great service. I'm sure I could find cheaper products but knowing I won't get anywhere near the level of after sales help. I am a self taught Jack of all, master of some. I live in Indiana USA and I help run Pauls CNC, 3D printing and other cool digital gadgets where we help people learn everything from CNC control to diagnosis and 3D printing in all forms. I am glad to see continued dedication to the maker community and always improving, starting with my first arduino mega ordered from them to the 4030proverxl and extension kits. Happy 10 years!

If you want to learn, don't be afraid to ask, and don't be afraid to mess up, you will make plenty of firewood in your CNC adventure, be determined!

What is a challenge or difficulty that you have overcome in the workplace?

Learning something new everyday is a good way to challenge oneself!
