Overview

SainSmart TPU filament is characterized by its high strength and flexibility, resembling a hybrid of plastic and rubber. 95A TPU has high abrasion resistance and low compression compared to rubber parts, especially at higher infill. In comparison with most common filaments like PLA and ABS, TPU must be run at much slower speeds.

Specification

  • Material: Rep-Flex TPU - Vacuum Sealed with desiccant
  • Shore Hardness: 95A
  • Weight: 1 KG (approximately 2.20 lb) Spool Weight Total, Net Weight 0.8 KG
  • Diameter: 1.75mm (+/- 0.05mm)
  • Recommended Extruder Temperature: 195 - 230°C
  • Recommended Platform Temperature: 40 - 60°C

Printing Tips

Recommended for printers with a direct drive extruder and 0.4~0.8mm nozzles. If using a Bowden extruder, pay special attention to the following tips:

  • Print slowly at 15-30 mm/s printing speed.
  • First layer settings: Height 100%, Width 150%, Speed 50% (for example).
  • Disable retraction to reduce messy stringing or oozing results.
  • Increase Multiplier (Optional): Setting it to 1.1 can help the filament bond well.
  • Turn on the cooling fan after the first layer.

If you encounter problems printing with soft filaments, the most important step is to slow the print down; running at 20 mm/s will work perfectly.

When loading the filament, allow it to just start extruding. Once you see the filament coming out of the nozzle, hit stop. The load feature pushes filament through quicker than a normal print, which can cause it to get caught in the extruder gear.

Also, feed the filament directly to the extruder, not through the feeder tube. This reduces drag on the filament, which can cause the gear to slip.
