Includes SainSmart UNO R3 Development Board Compatible With Arduino UNO R3. SainSmart UNO R3 now uses an ATMega16U2 instead of the ATMega8U2 chip. This allows for faster transfer rates and more memory. No drivers needed for Linux or Mac (inf file for Windows is needed and included in the Arduino IDE), and the ability to have the Uno show up as a keyboard, mouse, joystick, etc. 3.3VV/5V Supply Voltage and IO Voltage is optional. More 3.3V modules supported, such as Xbee module, Bluetooth module, RF module, GPRS module, GPS module, LCD5110 Backlight and so on, but the original version can only support 5V IO. Controller uses SMD MEGA328P-AU chip. Add A6/A7 port. SainSmart R3 can directly use the electronic building blocks on I / O port and elicit G, V, S.
The Uno R3 also adds SDA and SCL pins next to the AREF. In addition, there are two new pins placed near the RESET pin. One is the IOREF that allow the shields to adapt to the voltage provided from the board. The other is a not connected and is reserved for future purposes. The Uno R3 works with all existing shields but can adapt to new shields which use these additional pins.

If you are like I was and very interested in robotics, Arduino programming, and electrical engineering, but not quite sure where to start, then this is an awesome beginners kit for you. I am a college freshman studying Electrical Engineering and I was searching for a starter Arduino kit that would give me hands experience. Specifically I desired to understand and learn the Arduino programming language, how to manipulate analog and digital inputs and outputs through sensors and motors, and of course.... build cool little robots. I can honestly say that I could not be more impressed with the quality of the components in this kit, although I would recommend also adding the distance sensor to your purchase for like $5 as it will be needed to make your cool little robot not crash into walls and such....at least not as much anyway. One obvious thing about the SainSmart UNO R3 is that it not made by Arduino, which concerned me given the low price of this kit and all the items included compared to others that I researched. After receiving it however, it is easy to see that the slight differences are for the better... ie faster processing chip, built in 3V - 5V switch, built in drivers, and in general much more customizable. The SainSmart UNO R3 included is an amazing little powerhouse and works seamlessly with the Arduino programming. One other cool thing is that it comes with a solderless breadboard so you dont even need to mess with a soldering iron until after you are done experimenting and want to make things more permanent. I am Very happy that I picked this kit to begin learning with. ****Lastly I will mention there was a "glitch" of some sort in the SainSmart system which initially did not allow me to view or track my order. This obviously freaked me out initially, but their customer service worked quickly and professionally to resolve the issue. In my opinion you can always tell the true caliber of the company you are dealing with by how they treat customers AFTER the sale. VERY PLEASED.
