Works much better than LM35 parts for longer leads

I original worked with an LM35, but I had problems getting reliable readings from the LM when I put it on a longer lead. No such problems with the DHT11 and it was very easy to program an UNO to read it. I am using it to monitor temperature in a micro greenhouse. Recently I had a low battery storage situation where I needed to conserve energy by keeping the greenhouse just above freezing. I woke up in the middle of the night and realized the DHT11 is not the part for measuring temperatures that approach freezing. It is rated to 0 degrees celsius, but its margin of error is plus or minus 2 degrees. So the best it could ever read is -2 C, and its just as likely to stop reading temperatures at +2 C. A better choice would be a DHT22, which looks to be just as easy to program and supports a wider range of temperatures. The drawback is the DHT22 costs several times more money.

Weather Center / Thermostat Control

I've used these in thermostat and weather projects. Great value!
